Sexual and reproductive health and rights

SCORA – Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights

SCORA, Reproductive health and AIDS, is one of IFMSA:s six committees. We work worldwide to raise awareness about reproductive health and rights and related subjects such as sexuality and gender, including AIDS.

The Committee was founded in 1992 due to the alarming increase in the number of people living with HIV/AIDS and the strong desire of the students to take part in the work to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. Years have passed and the work has now been broadened to cover other related subjects such as reproductive health and rights.

How can you get involved?

SCORA:s activities relating to substances that promote healthy sexual and reproductive behaviour, prevention against HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, proper use of contraception and the right to abortion and adequate prenatal care. We are also working with reproductive rights, for example, with regard to the barriers faced by LGBT people, and other equality issues as women's rights in society, female genital mutilation, ERTMAN as warfare and violence against women.
