SCORP – Human Rights and Peace
The starting point for the Working Group on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP – Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace) has since 1983 been to highlight and improve the situation of refugees around the world. To be able to change things in the long term, and from the ground up is a big part of our work to promote the implementation of human rights, which together with conflict prevention is a prerequisite for our humanitarian efforts must mean something more than a short-term symptom relief.
We in Scorp want to work for a fairer and more cohesive society, against all forms of oppression, economic and social injustice, Racism and sexism - in Sweden and in the world. We want to be on the burning social commitment of many nursing students and utilize it to change the world!
“Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for their own and family's health and well-being, including food, clothes, residence, medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, disease, invalidity, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control. " - Items 25.1, UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
How can you get involved?
Scorp is in constant need of new volunteers who are passionate about human rights and justice issues! Would you like to create a campaign to highlight the Swedish migration policy catastrophic consequences for human health? If you want to write opinion articles, go to Almedalen, hold demonstrations? Do you want to do practical work in a clinic that offers care to people as the public health system does not receive? Or share the knowledge about health and care you have and also learn about other people's understanding of these issues? Do you want to go a step further and work with scorps issues at an international level? Do you have an idea of a project that Scorp should start, a proposal on how we can do our work better, or an issue that you are passionate about much of which you feel we have neglected? Do not hesitate to get in touch with us, either to your local Scorp-controller or to the national authorities responsible for Scorp.
