Human Rights and Peace

SCORP – Human Rights and Peace

The starting point for the Working Group on human rights and peace (SCORP-Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace) has since its inception 1983 been to draw attention to and improve the situation of refugees around the world. To be able to change things in the long term, and from the ground is a large part of our work to promote the implementation of human rights, which together with conflict prevention is a prerequisite for our humanitarian efforts should mean anything more than a short-term symptom relief.

We in the SCORP would work for a fairer and more inclusive society, against all forms of oppression, Economic and social inequalities, racism and sexism – in Sweden and in the world. We want to be on the burning citizenship held by many nursing students and use it to change the world!

”Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for their own and their family's health and well-being, including food, clothing, residence, medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, disease, invalidity, wife's or husband's death, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his or her control. " – Article 25.1, The UNITED NATIONS ' Universal Declaration of human rights.

How can you get involved?

SCORP is in constant need of new volunteers who are passionate about human rights and justice! Do you want to develop a campaign to highlight the Swedish migration policy with disastrous consequences for human health? Would you like to write opinion articles, go to Almedalen, organise demonstrations? Do you want to work practically on a clinic that offers care to people who the public care does not receive? Or share the knowledge on health and care you have and at the same time, learn more about other people's understanding of these issues? Do you want to take a step further and work with SCORPs issues on an international level? Do you have an idea for a project that SCORP should start, a proposal on how we can make our work even better, or an issue you are passionate about very much for and that you feel that we have neglected? Please do not hesitate to contact us, either to your local SCORP-Manager or to the national responsible for SCORP.
